I’ve been noticing many ads targeting Catholic schools to purchase Math and English textbooks aligned to Common Core developed especially for Catholic Schools. I would wait before spending scarce funds on these Common Core textbooks. N.C. legislative committee voted to send a bill to REPEAL Common Core Standards and create a commission to recommend new ones. “We have to have some standard,” said Rep. Bryan Holloway, a Stokes County republican. “We’ve determined we need something other than Common Core.” Under the draft legislation, Common Core would be repealed in North Carolina in July. In September, a new Academic Standards Review Commission would begin work to help create and recommend new rigorous standards for the state. That work would be completed by the end of 2015. Now the proposal says, under an amendment approved by the committee, the new commission could send proposals forward during their process- to help the state board of education make standard changes before the two year review is complete.
