Arne Duncan Perfects Common Core #ShutUppery

Arne Duncan has a message for “White Suburban Moms”:

U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan told a group of state schools superintendents Friday that he found it “fascinating” that some of the opposition to the Common Core State Standards has come from “white suburban moms who — all of a sudden — their child isn’t as brilliant as they thought they were, and their school isn’t quite as good as they thought they were.” – Washington Post

There’s that awesome Shutuppery Common Core PR again.  What a lovely thing for the U.S. Director of Education to say to women across the country. War on women anyone?  So, is it just White suburban moms? What about White suburban dads, Arne? How about the millions of Black moms? Black Dads? Latino? Indian? Asian? I ask, because this is not a movement you can pin on race or gender. These are parents from all walks of life, socioeconomic status and education level standing up in objection to Common Core.

So…Arne.. Arne.. Listen. It’s not our kids that aren’t brilliant, it’s your crappy one size fits all, age inappropriate, informational text using, STEM failing, unproven, untested, empty husk set of standards.

Here are links to the various outlets reporting on these insane comments by Obama Ed Secretary Duncan.  I’m leaving them in their raw link format for the time being.

  • Isn’t that just the way? Obviously intelligent discussion isn’t their cup of tea, so as always they resolve to insults and lies. I have news for them, there are many more up in arms about the failure known as common core. In the end this too shall end, crumbling down, just like Obamacare.
In the meantime I’d love to send them all a copy of Kurt Vonnegut’s “Harrison Bergeron”…
